Rads present... The Rivals

Venue: The Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond, North Yorkshire

Set in Bath in the 18th Century, the plot centers around two young lovers, Lydia and Jack. Lydia wants a purely romantic love affair so Jack pretends to be a poor sailor, Lydia is enthralled with the idea of eloping with a poor sailor in spite of her guardian Mrs Malaprop, a moralist widow. Lydia has two other suitors, Bob Acres a buffoonish country gentleman and Sir Lucius O’Trigger a poor Irish gentleman. As you can imagine, there are a lot of antics with people misleading each other.
